GymStars Program

GymStars classes are for children in 1st grade and older and are divided into girl only and boy only classes. Gymnastics is an unsurpassed children's activity for building fitness as well as teaching essential life skills. Our developmental class program is non-competitive and the pace is individual. Gymnastics is an individual sport, and each child will progress at their own rate.  Older students generally progress more quickly than younger students due to their natural maturity and ability to understand and follow instructions quickly.

In Which Class Should My School-Age Child Enroll?

Children should sign up for the grade-appropriate gymnastics class. (All unlabeled classes are beginner/advanced beginner level classes).  Students previously enrolled in an Intermediate level class , but who have not been in a class for more than 2 months, should be evaluated before re-enrolling.

Class Structure

We start each class with 20 minutes of general fitness activities-10 minutes of cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and muscular endurance activities followed by 10 minutes of flexibility.  After this warm-up, gymnasts will work on three of the gymnastics events per week-floor exercise and tumbling, balance beam (for girls only), uneven parallel bars, vaulting, and trampoline-events vary from week to week.

Classes are divided by grade and skill level. Beginner and Advanced Beginner classes are 65 minutes long; Intermediate classes are 80 minutes long.

Most students attend class once or twice per week. We do provide discounts for attending more than one class per week. Multiple children in one family also qualify for the multiple class discounts; please see our Class Price List for details.

For class policies regarding attendance, dress code, make-ups, etc. please see our Airborne General Class Policies

For specific days and times please see our Class Schedules.

Airborne staff members are available to assist students and ensure that safety rules are followed.  Saturday Workout is not open playtime. Students that are not able to work on gymnastics skills with minimal supervision should not attend Saturday Workout. There is an additional cost of $10 per student for Saturday Workout (ask at the front desk about family discounts.) For specific times please see our Class Schedules

Student Evaluations

Students are continually evaluated by their teachers.  Formal evaluations are sent home three times per year.  Certificates are awarded along with evaluation sheets, so that the students and parents know what skills they have successfully completed and which skills they still need to improve on.

Group Gymnastics

Students enrolled in our GymStars program are invited to participate in our Group Gymnastics Performance Team. Group Gymnastics is a performance group that sets a large group gymnastics routine to music to be performed at various events around the area. Competitive Programs
Do you think your child would enjoy a competitive program?  We offer pre-competitive and competitive gymnastics for students ages five and older.  Acceptance into these programs are by invitation only, but if you or your student is interested in pursuring a position on one of our teams please speak to their instructor and let them know. They will help you determine if this would be a good fit for your child; and what your child will have to do to make it a possibility.

Please note: We have found from experience that it is a mistake to place a child in a competitive program which is too intense for their capabilities and true athletic interests. Consequently, we are very cautious about placing children in any of our competitive programs. For this reason, all team and pre-team programs are by invitation only.
