Airborne General Class Policies

Below are the Airborne Gymnastics & Dance general class policies. Please note some programs have program specific policies in addition to these general policies. To avoid misunderstandings, please read all the appropriate program policies in addition to these general policies, before enrolling in a class.

If there are any questions or concerns, please raise them before enrolling your student. Our staff and instructors are always happy to discuss specific classes and the policies associated with those classes.

Dress Codes

Gymnastics and Tumbling & Trampoline: One-piece leotard or snug-fitting T-shirt and shorts. No spaghetti-strap shirts, please. Gymnastics shoes or bare feet are required. Younger students may wear gripper socks.

Dance: Leotard and tights are required for ballet class (skirt is optional), and are appropriate for any other dance class. Students in Jazz, Hip-hop, and Tap class have the option of wearing a leotard and/or dance pants and a top. No specific color/s required. Students must wear the appropriate dance shoes- ballet, tap, or jazz - for each class. Please, no revealing clothing.

For all programs: No jeans or jean shorts, no jewelry, and no footed tights, except in dance classes. No street shoes in the gymnastics areas or dance rooms. Hair must be secured away from the face. We will supply rubber bands to children who forget to pull their hair back. If your child's hair can interfere with their vision, it needs to be pulled back.

Jewelry: Please have your child remove all jewelry before class starts. (Small stud-style earrings will be permitted, although we would prefer you remove those as well.) Jewelry can easily get caught on something (such as a spotter's hand) and be broken or cause injury. Children will be asked to remove any jewelry they wear into the gym. Airborne is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Weekly Newsletters

Newsletters go home with your child on a weekly basis. PLEASE read these newsletters every week. Information regarding you child's class, upcoming events at Airborne, and more will be included in these newsletters. If you have any questions regarding what is in the newsletter please ask us. You can view previous newsletters by clicking here.

Attendance

Being on Time: Children are most comfortable when they arrive before their class begins. Arriving a little early allows for a smooth transition from parent to teacher. Children can become very self-conscious when they enter their class late. Warm-ups are a very important part of class - besides preparing the body physically for class; we are preparing mentally, reviewing skills, and discussing important safety issues. Please make an effort to be on time (or a little early) to your class each week.

Late Arrivals: Students who arrive after warm-ups are complete will not be allowed and class and will be asked to schedule a make-up class. Arriving very late is a distraction to the class as well as being unsafe for your student.

Be Prepared: Please be sure your child is ready for class. Hair should be pulled back, jewelry removed, and drinks and potty breaks taken care of before class starts.

Obsesrving Classes

Foot traffic through the gym: Please follow the purple path through the gym, and stay behind the half-wall. We do not allow general foot traffic on carpeted areas or mats in the gym. When we have foot traffic in the gym, both safety and organization suffer. To minimize distractions to the classes, please do not talk to students in class. We prefer you observe classes from behind glass whenever possible.

Please: NO flash photography! This can be not only distracting to all our students, but dangerous as well.

Siblings: Brothers and sisters are welcome to accompany parents in the observation areas. Please bring coloring books or quiet toys to entertain your child while you are watching class. Parents are responsible for their child's behavior - it is expected that children in the observation play areas will play nicely, not abuse toys or throw things, or cause disruptions to others observing classes. Please do not allow your children to run or climb on the benches in our observation areas. If your child becomes a distraction to others in the observation area you will be asked leave.

Children not in class must be supervised at all times. Please do not leave children unattended anywhere in our facility at any time. Our office staff is responsible for answering phones, assisting customers, and attending to minor first aid needs of students. They cannot be responsible for watching your children.

Please do not permit your young child to "shop" in our store unattended.  We have had items accidentally destroyed by young children playing in our store. We cannot sell items that have been thrown on the floor repeatedly.

NO Food and/or Drinks (other than water bottles) allowed in the class areas.

Class Make-up Policy

Gymnastics & T&T Make-up Classes: We prefer our students attend their regularly scheduled class, but we do allow one make-up per month. All make-ups must be completed within four weeks of the missed class, and MUST BE SCHEDULED through our office in advance. Make-ups must be done in a class of the same age, level, and type as the class missed. We do not pro-rate or give credit for missed classes.

Gymnastics students age six or younger may use our TumbleBear open gym on Monday, free of charge, as a make-up. Gymnstics students and T&T students in first grade and older may use the Saturday Workout, free of charge, as a make-up. Please see the class schedules for exact times on Mondays and Saturdays.

Dance Make-up Classes: Make-ups for dance classes after January 1st, must be done in a Non-Recital based class. Many of our DanceStars classes are only offered one time per week so make-ups are not always an option for our older dancers.

Rock Climbing Make-Up Classes: For climbing classes only, make-ups are scheduled with the instructor directly.

We do not pro-rate or give credit for missed classes.

Airborne Closures

Snow Days: We rarely close due to inclement weather. If the weather is bad, please call before coming in. If we do close, we will have a message to that effect on our phone voice mail at least one hour prior to closing.

Please use your best judgement when deciding whether or not to come to class during inclement weather. Remember, keeping your family safe is more important than attending one class. You may schedule a make-up for classes missed due to weather.

School Closures: Our customers attend schools in many different school districts. Do not assume that your child does not have class because the schools are closed in your area.  Please call the office if you are in doubt.

Miscellaneous

Lost and Found: We keep lost items at our facility for two weeks. After two weeks, items are donated to local charities. Airborne Gymnastics & Dance is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Remember to take jewelry off your child before class starts!
